I went to a Rheumatologist who told me I could have a viral infection or what they call Polymyalgia Rheumatica or some other autoimmune disease. I was tested for Arthritis, lupus, ummm oh a lot of stuff and nothing has shown up.

on blood war fin re blood clots left groin area also on hydramorph for hip pain and spinal stenosis. hydrmorph is not strong enough so have to resort to taking extra drugs over the counter. also have arthritis in knees spine feet and hands take 4 mgs prednison also for poly myaliga rheumatica

I’ve had very bad Polymyalgia for a couple of years. I was only diagnosed a year ago. I was placed on Prednisone and the dose was gradually increased to 10mg a day. The pain and stiffness were still quite bad. They introduced Methotrexate 20mg once a week with the necessary follow-up calcium folinate the following day. The pain is still present but bearable. The Cushing’s Syndrome is terrible, my face and neck are so swollen and red, I look like Santa Claus, and my ENT specialist says my trachea is collapsing from the pressure. I’ve been very careful not to put on too much weight with it, but the swelling is another matter. I’m so self-conscious that I’ve cut off personal contact with my friends, stopped going out unless I have to, I just stay alone because I’m so ashamed of how strange I look. I’m just feeling like this will never end.I know that the Cushing’s is the trade-off for the pain. I’m feeling pretty desperate.

The cause of mine is definitely huge doses of prednisone.. no tumour!

The main common characteristics of the rheumatic conditions are represented by inflammations, followed by a disability of one of the body’s supporting structures. The most affected by rheumatic diseases are the articulations, ligaments, bones, tendons and muscles that become painful, swollen and rigid. Some of the 100 types of rheumatic disorders may affect the other organs.

Some people generically call “arthritis” any kind of rheumatic problem. But, unlike the other conditions, arthritis only attacks the articulations. There are some rheumatic diseases that are considered disorders of connective tissues, while others are seen as auto immune.

Numerous case reports in the 1980s appeared to suggest a linkage between silicone gel implants and connective tissue diseases and symptoms. The principal connective tissue disorders included scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren syndrome, dermatomyositis, polymyositis, and polymyalgia rheumatica. There was also a concern over the possibility that the implants were linked to breast cancer and problems in breast-fed newborns. In response to this, the US-FDA in 1992 issued a moratorium on silicone breast implants and restricts the use of the implants for breast reconstruction and clinical studies only.
