A few months ago I had a sinus infection, and the doctor prescribed prednisone. Almost immediately I noticed that I felt better than I had in years. I had constantly felt like I had been run over by a truck, but it had developed so gradually that I wasn’t really aware that I was sore, arms and legs falling asleep, muscles super tense etc. The prescription was for a tapering dose, starting at ten pills a day. When I got down to seven pills a day, the symptoms started returning, so after I finished the supply, I went back to the doctor. He said that immediate response to prednisone was one of the indicators of a rheumatic disease, possibly polymyalgia. Does anyone have information about this disease, and about the co relation between the time prednisone acts on pain, and diagnosis of rheumatic diseases?
